My 5 series was accidentally curbed by the dealer recently. It was repaired at the weekend but they needed to put 80 grams of weight to rebalance the wheel after being filled.

The damage wasn't that bad in the scheme of things (compared to some cars I see) but as most of my wheels have about 50 grams on them I did wonder if there was a theoretical maximum weight limit before the wheel is written off?

My alloys are 19" M light alloy wheels Double-spoke 351 M.

Any thoughts?

If it needs more weight than before the rim may be slightly buckled.

There's no 'maximum' as such. If the amount of weight which is going on seems silly it probably is.

When I worked at a Jaguar dealer. Jaguar stated no more than 60 grams per side of wheel. ie 60 inner and 60 outer.

If your tyre fitter is any good he could move the tyre 90 degrees on the rim ams retry that. Just as long as he chalks the tyre so knows where he started.
