Just speccing a new 330mm kit that I initially had in mind the tried and tested 6 bolt CP5200 unit for but see APR now have a new replacement available too - the 9200. New body is four bolt but drop forged construction rather than sand cast, which is stated to be stiffer; otherwise interchangeable for my purposes despite slightly different form factor and max rotor thickness capacity of 28 mm for the new one (as opposed to 32 for the 5200) - APR tell me spares are assured for the 5200 going forward and that the only reason for the change-over is tooling longevity. Weights are similar within a few grams. Both are available currently but the 5200 will drop off the catalogue.

Stick with the known 5200 or go with the 9200 trusting production advances? Aesthetics?

I use 5200 but only because they were available for £300 (5 years ago) from a early tuscan. If I was buying new I like sound of the 9200. What thicknes disc are you inteding to use? Any idea on price for 9200?

Decision made after physically comparing the two thanks to Martin at Reyland, and after speaking with an APR engineer who spent some time explaining the reasons for the changeover (not so much based in performance difference apparently, but in production modernisation) - no cost difference so have gone for the 5200 simply on aesthetics. The new ones are shinier, marginally shorter, and 'smoother' (almost Brembo looking) but I just preferred the more sculpted form and satin finish of the old model. Rotors are 28mm - hopefully get them mounted tomorrow so will be interesting to compare with the Hi-Spec billets they will replace (on 283mm solid discs)
