Mytyres have Vredesteins for £210 fitted or Falkens for £186. If you want premium brands you are paying £270+ wherever you go. Quite why an X5 needs such rediculous size tyres is another question.
Think its down to it being 20" rims that are staggered (for 50:50 weight balance), it being a 315hp car that can go to 150+mph, even though it is 2.2tonnes! Quality tyres are needed for these cars to be at their best.

The Cayenne is on the same width/profile 19" all around. It has 340BHP & is around 2400kg. Mine has just gone onto Vredesteins 275/45 x 19" 108 Y rated. That & and a geo check has hugely improved the general drive & handling. Also quieter which came as a surprise.
Edited to say these came from a local indy tyre dealer at £150 per corner. I could have shaved a few quid off but not a lot.
No staggered setup so any tyres can go on, and are probably not run flat (5 seat cars, spare tyre in the boot). The tyres on the front are much smaller on the X5, 275/40 fronts. It's very laughable to see such large tyres on an SUV though, have to admit.

I asked my independent fitter first. I supply the tyre and he fits/balances for £10-£15 per tyre depending on size. His rationale is that on cheap budget tyres he only makes £15 profit per tyre including fitting and in me supplying, I get the exact tyres I want, and he has no stockholding, no stock outlay and no accounts to settle.

The ones that won't do it cite insurance and not wanting to be responsible for a product they haven't supplied. That I can understand. But there is an element of greed...

A question for people who order tyres online for supply only; is there any secret to arranging the fitting and balancing? The few places I've found who will actually fit tyres they haven't supplied want the equivalent of the money saved on the supply (or more) to do so.
A friendly mechanic will fit them for a reasonable price, for us at least. Balancing is a problem and I believe new tyre pressure sensors are needed all around too, so that is a cost. Either way, BMW's are bloody money pits and cost the world to run, but will start every single day and drive as they should do.

This is what I have found, my local guy will fit but he's around £12.50 each. I normally give him £50, sometime these have been s/h tyres occasionally new. This is the same guy who offered the Vreds for £150 each. I think I found them for £135ish online so not worth the agro.

Hmm, thinking about fitting prices and the need for sensors too, may be a better idea to get an independent tyre fitter to just do it for us instead, for a reasonable price.

My local independent says that 90% of lease cars will have budget tyres put on them to replace the first set.
Unfortunately he's mistaken most lease companies have deals with manufacturers where if they fit so many of that brand they get them at a cheap price.
The top choices usually change between major manufacturers every few months

No new sensors required unless the fitter is a ham fisted oaf and damages them.
As long as the wheel goes back in same position it came from on the car and you reset your tpms system via idrive all will be well

Lease was probably the wrong word. Private contract hire/PCP etc.

In that case yup it'll be the cheapest possible especially for the bigger sizes. Folk can afford the lease but not the running costs and don't understand that tyres can make a massive difference to the car

Or they're giving it back in a couple of months and don't want to spend money for someone else's benefit.
