I am looking for some quick advice please on changing FRONT shocks on my B6 estate Highline. I've had VW genuine "eco" ones installed last year and to my shock they are already dead frown Non-"eco" ones are even softer so a no-no

So I shortlisted Bilstein B4 / £50 a corner as a budget choice or KONI SPORT yellow £100 each ebay special.
KONI FSD or B6 are bit over the budget sadly unless you can point me to some special deals.

I would want suspension to be slightly stiffer and handle better than OEM Highline but still not crashy and comfortable over UK B road and city mess.
Durability is highly important, as well as a knock-on effect to the rest of the highly unreliable B6 suspension.

Springs are OE made by Supplex changed a couple years ago I believe. I could obviously leave them since they are in good condition or if it makes a massive difference upgrade to something else. I'm not looking to lower unless a negligible amount (<1cm) since I often end up going some muddy countryside road requiring plenty of ground clearance.

Thank you.

I fitted B4s to my 5-series, didn't like them- I think due to their high gas pressure they had a lot of initial 'sticktion', I hoped they'd improve with wear but after 10,000 miles they hadn't appreciably softened- the ride quality was worse than with the factory Sachs / Boge dampers with exactly the same springs. I removed them and fitted Koni Sports which so far feel as comfortable as the OEM dampers while also offering better control, and all of this on the softest setting (or one half-turn from the softest setting). I love them. They probably won't last as long as Bilstein but that's a compromise I'm willing to make. I found Larkspeed had good prices.
