My MGF is going to become a bit of a "project car" over the next year or so.
I want to refurb the wheels myself, partly to reduce the cost ( I know it will not be a LOT cheaper) and partly so that I can learn how to do it.

Problem is, I am being told that for a long lasting finish, I need to bake the wheels, is this true?

I just put a few coats of lacquer over when i did the ones on my old car and they were fine. Depends what sort of finish you are going for.

Just want them to look standard to be honest.

What do the TDS for the products you're planning on using say?

Personally, I wouldn't recommend putting any non-activated topcoat on a wheel. Anything you can apply by aerosol will be blistered off the wheel by many common cleaning or valeting products - wheels have a tough life.

I'm in the middle with this one.

On one side I own a alloy refurb company, on the other a company selling all you need to do it yourself.

But which onenis best, I like both, there's only one way to find out.

Fight !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did mine my self on the Focus Track Car i have.

Took about 2 days to complete. here are some photos.

And here they are 2 years later.

Only issue i had was when a CV Boot split when i was on a track day as the grease has stained a wheel.

I have decided to do it myself, and will be buying a spare from ebay for about a tenner, which I will refurb, and then do them one at a time.

Will be needing some Rover "Sparkle Silver", not gonna get it from Halfrauds as I have heard horror stories, anyone able to put me in the right direction of a decent supplier?

Ive set you up a discount via the website, 10% off your first order.

Just enter your Pistonheads name in the discount box and away you go, ive only entered one coupon so if it doesnt work then a fellow PHer has used it.

PS-- Dont tell anyone, lol.
