Hello folks,

Does anybody know how i can fix this

It stuck ajar the other morning when we had hard frost and i tried to force it

Now the central locking is playing havoc and i am getting locked in the car every time!

It seems to be ok if i hold the handle flush whilst locking/unlocking...
INterior light etc all seem ok

Cheers

From memory...
Open door, lift back doorseal behind lock to reveal hole, use long Torx driver undo screw until resistance is felt, remove body of lock from outside of door, slide handle back and remove, whilst pulling handle open. Check for damage on tab of handle, if none, refit making sure the tab has located behind the catch mechanism- you might have to "open" the door with the interior handle to move the lever out, refit lock, tighten screw, refit seal and check operation whilst another door is open- just in case!

Thanks Paul, do you mean the torx screws next to the handle on the end of the door (not the inside door card side)

Its been quite a while since I've repaired one but there should be a small hole directly behind the door lock on the inside of the door as soon as you open it. You dont need to touch the interior door card.

Ok well had a quick look last night before darkness and couldnt see anything obvious, the small tag on the end of the wire was still connected up but something is stopping the handle sitting flush.
Hard to see what so i may have to take the interior door card off to look from the other side unless anyone can suggest something??

I dont think you will see much by taking the interior door card off. As if it is anything like a golf all the workings for the door are fitted to a large metal plate that acrews to the inside of the door something like this http://i979.photobucket.com/albums/ae275/Paneurope...

Sometimes removing the handle and refitting it works.

Undo the torx screw as mentioned earlier
Door lock / blank should pull outwards.
Cable unclips from the handle.
Slide handle towards rear of car to remove it.

Have a good look to see if anything looks broken or damaged.

When refitting the handle it should slide in quite easily without much resistance.

You can strip out the interior of the door, but I'm pretty sure its a cartridge type setup. After taking off the doorcard, you'll encounter something similar to the pic above, the whole inside of the door unbolts and it comes out with the drop glass and doorframe as one unit. Or it does on most of the VW/ Audi range so I'd assume the Seat will be the same. A lot of the VW's have bolt on doorskins but I cant remember if yours has. Put up a picture of the lock mechanism as you open the door, that might help.

Looks like a MK1 leon / toledo they use a traditional door but with the regulator speaker wiring etc attached to the plate inside the door. Like this i think http://vwgolfr32.co.uk/windowregulator/ The drop glass still comes out the traditional way.
