Its a love it hate it sort of thing.
Hate the £800 quote to get it wrapped, love the £150 it took to get this effect and the fact I can just peel it off.

Looks just like a matt black wrap from the pics! How durable would this be? What sort of prep do you have to do to the bodywork?

Depends on how many coats you put on. There are video's on youtube of Plasti Dip being pressure washed.
Once its fully cured its very durable.
Prep work involves just cleaning the car with some shampoo just to get rid of any product. Then you're ready to paint.
Unlike wrap your paint work doesn't have to be pristine, the Plasti dip fills stone chips and scratches very well and leaves a good finish.

This look intriguing - sadly the photobucket pictures won't display. Hard to tell what the end result looks like quality wise - is it an even paint effect?

Tempted to try it on a set of scabby alloys - what sort of prep is involved - seen the video of someone peeling the paint off a car roof but does it leave residual marks/scratching?

Surprised there hasn't been more comment on this in general as most of PH have strong opinions on such things!
