10 days ago I bought a new car (to me) that's metallic black. The paint was in reasonable condition, just a little dull. I hand polished it with some Zymol cleaner polish and it looked better, but not great
So this Sat, I am going to use a DA. I don't think I need anything too aggressive-The cars paint is just a little dull, not swirled too much.
Do I get a a pad that's flat, or one of those dimply ones, and what sort of polish?
(The car is used daily so I don't want perfection, just a bit of shine!)

What car is it? Some have soft or hard paint.
You want a light polishing pad to stay safe and go for something like G|techniq P1, nothing with a lot of cut!

Its a 911 996.

The paint should not be rock hard on your 996 so give it a go with the P1 or maybe Menzerna Power Finish on a Menzerna orange pad (standard polishing one).
I take it the car has been, or will be clayed and tar & iron fallout removed first?
After all that if you're still not happy maybe it's time to call a pro with a rotary polisher.
Personally I wouldn't be comfortable using heavy cut pads and polish on my own car.
