Hi all,

As above, new to this car cleaning thing. I clean my daily driver once a year, just before the MOT, even if it doesn't need it.

My new toy is a 1993 Mercedes 500SL, the paint is metallic grey and looks good but feels like it has grit embedded into the surface. I have tried AutoGlym Super Resin Polish and normal T-Cut in discrete areas, both make the paint more shiny but do not remove the gritty feeling.

Please help - all suggestions welcome

Welcome to the murky under world of 'detailing'... A topic that has to be whispered when you see friends for an evening out! I think you probably need to clay bar your car before you polish it etc - if you go onto the detailing world website all will be revealed. Using a clay bar is relatively simple & effective if you follow the guidelines & BTW, there are different 'grades' of clay bar. Good luck thumbup
