Car coves and new paint.

Just got car back from having a re spray, unfortunately my cat likes to sit on the car (esp after it has just been washed) and has left tiny scratches over the years & now it's looking like new I'm left with the choice of either shooting the cat or getting a cover.

Looking at getting a good quality lined and fitted cover but they advise not using on new paint, how long is it best to wait before using one?

It's currently at work but not sure how long they will put up with it being there.....
