Hello chaps,

I have just bought a new car and the alloy wheels are a right disgrace - 30 years of brake dust and crap.

I have some Autoglym engine cleaner/degreaser in the garage and tried it on a patch yesterday. It worked a treat.

The question is: is this stuff suitable to use on a wheel with the tyre on? Clearly it is rather potent stuff to remove crud so easily, could it damage the tyre as it is inevitably dripping down onto the rubber a fair bit when applying/scrubbing.

Thanks for any advice.

It'll be fine:

Harmless in contact with plastics, rubber, paintwork and metal, it cleans the complete engine bay quickly and safely.
It's safe to use in the engine bay with all the associated rubbers and plastics, so won't be a problem on tyres.
