Waxing a car, how many coats do you put on?

With regards to wax, I put on two layers after the car has been polished, then top up with one layer every month to 6 weeks.

For wheels, annually I give them a thorough clean with APC and IronX, then clay them, cleaner wax and wheel sealant (2 layers). Then all that is needed is normal body shampoo when you wash the car and a top up of sealant every couple of months.
