I stupidly used a new (sticky) non-slip mount for my new Garmin Satnav that sits atop the dashboard of my Jaguar XF. When I cleaned the car the other day I found that there is a mark left on the leather that is the same shape as the base of the mount and I've no idea how to get this off without ruining the leather. I have no idea what chemical is used to make the base of the mount sticky so don't know if the mark/damage is permanent. Any help would be gratefully received.

PS The dashboard is a high quality soft leather and as far as I know is not "coated".

What have you used to clean your leather dashboard?

Only tried a mid water/soap solution but this made no difference. The base of the satnav mount has a substance like the sticky bit of a Post-It note so I think that's what they used to make the base "sticky". There is no residue that you can feel, just a dark patch when the sun is on it and you can't really see it in low light like when it's cloudy.

Whatever you do try do it on a section of your trim that's out of sight to ensure you don't damage the leather. Most glues can be removed using WD40 as it thins out and breaks down the structure. Following that a good quality leather treatment should leave a consistent finish across the whole of the dash. Aerospace 303 can be used on leather. But as I said, have a go somewhere safe first. Good luck and take it slowly, don't rub to hard!

Buy a decent leather care kit from LTTsolutions and the mark should vanish with a little care.
