Hi Guys.

My Dad has a Range Rover Sport, and these spots have appeared on his paintwork:

He only washes it every month or two, has never bothered to polish it or wax it or seal it (he's anti-detailing) since he bought it 2 years ago. I have no idea about how the previous owner kept the car.

What are these spots? I hope they're not rust?!

Answered by detailing world - Apparently, its industrial fallout (airborne metallic particles) that land on the car. Can be removed easily with industrial fallout remover and a clay bar.

Could also be from someone welding in the vicinity of the car.

I've tracked it down…. I work in the same place as my Dad, on an industrial estate. Our car park is right next to next door's fire escape door, where people wander in and out.

My Dad parks his car face first against our fence, directly in front of next door's fire escape door. I'm not quite sure what next door do, but its something metal work related, so I wouldn't be surprised if there are bits of metal flying around.
