Last weekend I gave the V6 which I felt was a good going over. I always mean to take detailed pictures but with helping a friend fix a Z4 roof and the camera battery running out this didn’t work as well as I had hoped. Anyway done what I could and still have bits to do which I will update.
The V6 came out at the start of the month having had its major service so again can update this when or if I do a proper thread with more detail.

The car started fairly clean and certainly had a good coating already on as the beading shows:

I started on the 'luggage compartment'/engine/boot along with the door shuts, boot, door locks and all the small areas. I was very close to buying a £25+ fancy something for the APC but looked at reviews online and it appears cheap (£0.25) does the job just as good and I agree (pictured) not sure if others agree but too save some £24.XX its worth a shot and I will keep using this unless persuaded otherwise! I diluted this in a spray bottle and sprayed where needed.
I left for a little while then used a detailing brush to go over these areas and sprayed some more then left before washing off with the Karcher. I then started on the luggage compartment/boot area and I was very pleased with the results. Process here was to remove the luggage tray which I snow foamed and APC'd then washed off and left to dry. In the front area it's this is where the battery is kept along with what you would expect being the radiator/air con pipes etc. I didn’t use water but just used APC where needed and a microfiber to clean up. Things got serious using an air gun to get into the hard to reach areas, I actually just wanted a shot to use it.

To finish off I dressed with Auto Finesse trim dressing which I'm very impressed with. Applied to all the hoses/rubbers, a small amount seems to go a long way. I also used this on the luggage tray which came up very well. I started to metal polish the air con pipes but will take some time out and do this properly at a later date. Upon finishing I bought some new Dzus fasteners which I feel finished this off nicely.

I then moved onto the bodywork, having removed the APC I just gave the car a good soak then set up the snow foam. I used the AF Avalanche. Gave the car a good layer of thick foam and left for a little while, I then used a bucket and lambs mitt to give the car a clean. The picture format changes here as we used an iPhone as the camera then died.

Having removed the snow foam I then used IronX on the bodywork, I was surprised at the little amount it picked it was mainly the back bumper/boot lid that was affected, tried to picture this where possible. I left for a little while then removed with a soaked MF then washed off.

At this point I got side tracked and moved onto the alloys, I removed all wheels and gave a good clean. I used Chemical Guys degreaser followed by IronX then sealed just using a Meguiars paste wax. Again I didn’t get pictures off all 4 as the camera was charging. I also gave the arches a good clean but again will take some time to do this properly although I did dress the arch liners with AF trim dressing.

I moved back onto the bodywork and now clayed; again I was very surprised at how little this picked up. Once this was done and given a rinse you could tell the difference in how the water sat.

Car was then dried using big microfibres and once done I moved onto to the polish. I used AF Tripple, this is a good product. I applied by hand and done this stage twice. It's nice to apply and nice to remove. At this point the light was fading as you can maybe tell so I finsished doing this, hovered the car and gave the interior a quick going over with Meguiars Ultimate Interior Detailer then dressed the tyres with Meguiars High Gloss tyre gel.

During all of this I also sorted out 4 screws which were rusty, 2 were located down by the air vent and the other two on the front plastic grill. Pleased with small difference.

No real pictures of completion which I guess defeats the whole purpose of this, but I still have a few things to do and some products to try so will get out for some photos soon!

Looks really good! I've got a large expanse of plastic under the bonnet of my MR2, so will have to get some of that Auto Finesse trim stuff on that.

I thought the same!

Thanks for all the comments. The grey mentioned is called Lunar Grey.

Here is a picture of the engine (will be detailed) - not very exciting! (engine covers removed)

Sorry, wasn't being nasty with it, just that it looked like several of the screws holding the trim on had rust on them. Having now re-read the original post, especially this bit: -

I humbly beg forgiveness. I saw the rust and it reminded me of something I used to have. frown

I've always been a fan of the V6 - maybe one day we will see something similar from Renaultsport although I believe renault made a loss on every one they sold.

Great effort with the detail - looking forward to some more pics. Has the car covered many miles?
