Quick question: can I use standard polish on a metallic painted car? Cheers

Polish should only be acting on the lacquer over the top of the paint, so what's underneath it shouldn't have much effect. It's a bit more complex than that, but that's the jist.

TL;DR: Yes, HTH.

Why do you want to use polish on it? Wax would be beter, unless you are trying to remove some marks.

I thought polish as there are some swirl marks where the vauxhall dealer decided to wash the car with a scouring pad (or something similar judging buy the marks). I may just use the wax then. Cheers

You small minded ungrateful soul!!!!

This forum is dedicated to bodywork and detailing (detailing = how to look after yer paintwork BTW!) where people who actually know what they're talking about give help to those that want advice!

I suggest trying to buff some Ajax in with a Brillo pad!
HTH!

I'm not sure you're allowed to promote Ajax and Brillo pads in one post, however good they are, and they're a lot cheaper than wrapping a car girl that matt look smile

OP.. Try google try detailing world, try reading posts here. Finding a thread with the basics isn't hard to come by..
