Sorry but "the latest" Gtechniq sealant is for professional use only !!
You will not be able to buy it in the first place.
I'm considering EXO V2 and C1 crystal lacquer and the C5 for the wheels, on the Ultimate Finish site it mentions nothing about 'professional use', I will contact them directly. I've used Nanolex previously and was not blown away, but wondered if claying and sealing before treatment is not the way to go with the new sealants? You will not be able to buy it in the first place.
OK . I apologise .The latest coating from Gtechniq is Crystal Serum and seems to be head and shoulders above all other sealants but is available only to the pro's.
With C1 you need to make sure the paint is as clean as possible which does mean de-ironising/de-tarring and then claying if needed followed by an IPA wipedown or the panel wipe

Ta, sounds like a lot of work, might leave it to a pro! With C1 you need to make sure the paint is as clean as possible which does mean de-ironising/de-tarring and then claying if needed followed by an IPA wipedown or the panel wipe
Here is when I done my 205 a couple of years ago with C5 and Exo.

It's far better to listen to the pro .
Therein lies the problem John, I'm a bit old school and worry about not sealing the paint after using a clay bar, but looking at Iplods efforts convinces me that straight to C1 after a panel wipe would be ok. Tempted to enquire about Crystal Serum though, hearing great things but does anyone know what it would cost for a professional job?If you want a quote, I'll be more than happy to help. I'd like to know what car you have though. To have crystal serum applied, you have to have it applied by an authorised gtechniq detailer like myself.
However, if you want to do it yourself, use a mild clay bar. I think you will make it worse though if your cars paint is medium to soft. Don't rely on posted up pics to show the true condition of the car. A car might look good in a pic, but a mess in person in the right lighting.

Sorry but whats an SQ5??
What Paddy means is that claying a car quite often mars the paint (scratch's it in other words ) and should really be used as a prelude to polishing/paint correction .
There is a slight shift towards de ironising and de tarring first to minimise claying and the subsequent marring .
Clay it self comes in different grades and I for one only use DoDo Juice gentle grey or the Gyeon clay in conjunction with their deironiser .

To be honest, I don't think it would be worth the risk in marring the paint from claying it.
I'd wash it, ironx it, give it a wipe down (lower half and rear) with autosmart tardis( tar remover), then a pre wax cleaner and then panel wipe and c1. Obviously rinse it off in between the washing stages.
Do any black plastics with c1 too. Then get yourself a bottle of c2 version 2, dilute it 50/50 with bottled water and give the car a fine wipe down with that .
Get one of these too:

Great for drying off the wheels and blowing the water out of cracks etc
