I've got a Bike frame I want to have powdercoated, it's aluminium and has a dent in the down tube which I'd rather not see every time I ride it.

I'll get it blasted by the coaters so it's bare metal either way, but will they be able to powdercoat over body filler or chemical metal or any similar products?
Otherwise I'll have to paint it, which I'd rather not to in the damp winter.

Yes, as long as the filler can take the heat, some can, some can't.

Ask the powder coaters you intend to use.

No, you can stove enamel though.

You need a metal surface to carry the electrostatic charge to attract the powder.

Just been down this very route....JB weld will take it, not the quick drying stuff just the normal variety. It's a LOT cheaper than the stuff designed for powder.

No worries, only thing to note is when the top coat was drying it looked like it was slighty bloomed, but once fully dry it's perfect. I think it dried at a different rate perhaps but dont be alarmed if you see it.

Cool, thanks.
I'll be getting it done Matt or satin black and even a little bit of blooming would be better than the sent that's there at the moment!

Advice is much appreciated.
