Hi All,

Apologies (if there is a detailing section, please move this post)

I have a couple of Garage Queens, I know..........drive them more and all that!!

Anyway, most of the time through winter, I will drive them on the dry/sunny days.

On the odd occasion I will and do get caught out in the rain.

What is the best way to put the car back in to storage/garage when the car is wet and dirty???

Also I can't really leave one particular car on the driveway over night as the insurance company specify it must be garaged.

Is there a quick way to rinse the car off and dry before going in to the garage without scratching the paint work?

Help.

5 mins wiping excess water off with a cloth and leave the garage window open so air can circulate. It's what I do.

Wiping a dirty car over will scratch the paint.

You have two options

1) Leave it , perhaps buy a fan heater to dry the car off for an hour after parking

2) Wash it properly then dry it

Im often in the same boat so as above really, either wash and dry in properly if you can (including a run around the block to dry your brakes if it dries up (important on your 996).

If not and the weather is crap I just park it in the garage with the window ajar and leave the doors open on the car to allow the door shuts to dry out too.

Thanks All,

It does become a pain, especially as it has to be garaged.

Otherwise I would leave on the driveway until the day or two later and wash properly.

So I think just park in the garage and leave the small window open.

I thought I had seen a wonder product on one of the TV-selling channels that would wipe the car even if it was dirty, without scratching the paint work....can't remember what it was called???

I have a garage Queen so can relate to the OP. In the event that I get caught out in the rain, I just park it up in the garage and leave the garage well ventilated, door open etc.

Wouldn't be without my Metro Vac Sidekick (smaller version to the one linked above), superb bit of kit and brilliant at getting into those pesky little water traps. Works good on wheels and brakes as well.

Just put the thing in the garage and sort it out later. It will not do it any harm.

Just checked the details on that. Looks a good bit of kit. I may have to get one.

Edited to add- Just ordered one. Should be great for drying all those nooks and crannies that a microfiber cannot reach smile

Good stuff you won't regret it. I originally bought it for the grill on my car as any water left behind after washing leaves a stain, but now use it over the whole car. You'll learn where all the water gets trapped.
