How much should a smart repair cost? Small scratch needs a light rub down and re-paint on a 'normal' metallic car bumper corner. I've been quoted £160 and I suspect someone is trying to rip me off? I had another mark on another car, similar level of nastiness (not very). He quoted the same for that one too 'minus 10% for doing 2 jobs at the same location'.

Maybe around this level of damage (this site is NOT the one who quoted):

Thanks.

Get another SMART repairer & a bodyshop to view the actual damage to your car & give you a quote then make your mind up.

Seems a lot to me, not sure where you are but if in east anglia then this lot are good.

I'd have said approx £80- £100 per corner

I'd say maybe a little over priced.
Has he actually seen the damage or is he maybe imagining and pricing for worse case scenario?
How far has he got to travel to get to you? (An hour there and hour home is a cost in time and fuel)

Yes you could shop around and get maybe get it a bit cheaper - but if you're looking for a lot cheaper it will usually result in cheaper products being used and/or a rush job both of which could effect the quality and longevity of the job.

What he said. You (usually) get what you pay for when it comes to paintwork, be it a smart repairer working from his van, or an established shop (don't read franchise). Speak to them and ask to see examples of their work. Then you'll have an idea of not only price, but the work involved.
