Hi all,

Sorry this topic is probably an old conversation. I have an old Jaguar XJS with thick leather.
I have the usual bolster scuffs and cracks. The leather is dry underneath, but is the usual fully Pigmented Leather and coated so any advice on conditioner treatment is not much use, save that for the world of leather salesmen.

The question is how much would it be to have the seat re-covered or entirely replaced with colour matched.
Is this normally priced by the seat panel like bolster (but this might look odd) or price by the seat.

I had some advice that if you get one of the old boys working at furniture clinic then they can easily re-cover in a few hours (time=money). But how much should I expect to pay?

Any other company recommendations for seat restoration or repair in the Surrey area. But just wondering on price to even decide if it is worth considering and trying to prevent getting a cowboy patch or quick cannolise type patch job which will quickly flex and crack. I would like the fix to last another 20 years.

Thanks
Andy

I think you've answered your own question there, try to find an upholsterer, you'll probably need to take the seat to him though. Otherwise your looking at either a local repair, which will last a couple of years or go wild and have the full monty done at a car trimmers.

Have a look at the stuff offered here - http://www.lttsolutions.co.uk/ - this is a very knowledgable outfit & didn`t always have a fancy website! Maybe the repair pen would help? They don`t sell oily goop `conditioner` as it`s a waste of time on modern leathers (about 1945>) - which you seem to know...
Hope it helps - they`d be able to offer some advice I`m sure. Good luck with it.
