What's the best / most cost effective product to use for these?

I've considered POR15/Hammerite etc, however the lower wishbones on an MX5 are hollow and I can't see how I'd get the paint in there with complete coverage, (the bones have holes underneath presumable for drainage & weight reasons).

I've removed all the rust from them via the magic process of Elctroloysis. This process piqued my curiosity of zinc coating them via a similar process, but from reading up I think need to get the metal shiny before I can dip them in the solution, again if this is the case I've no way of getting the insides of the bones shiny clean.

Does the metal need to be shiny for the process to work properly?

Any other ideas? I've little interest in paying someone else to do the job, so DIY suggestions only please

Many thanks

POR 15 is hard to beat as a paint if its applied properly but it does like to stick to existing rust.
Clean metal needs the preparation products which can get quite expensive.
Have you thought of just spraying a good cavity wax on the inside, at least you can do this regularly.

POR sets very brittle and tends to chip off, as has been said, wax injection is probably your only way.
Regarding Zinc plate; no it doesn't need to be shiny at all, but during the process it clings to the outside of hollow items and won't go inside.
There is also the question of 'Hydrogen Embrittlement' with suspension components. I say question as whilst I know it exists, I don't know much about it, but it's worth researching if you intend to go BZP.
