I looking at putting some kind of coating on a brand new set of Satin finish alloys with Diamond cut faces.

Any recommendations on a protectant that will form a barrier and make them shed iron, salt, dust etc?

Nothing in this world is perfect but my choice would be a twice yearly coating of Gtechniq C5 Wheel armour. Yet to be beaten by anything. Not easy to apply but worth the effort.

Indeed, G-Techniq C5 or any other hard-wearing coating is best, applied at regular intervals. There are others that you may find easier to work with, and even one which you would apply to your bodywork will help such as CarPro C-Quartz - www.carpro.uk.com.

As with anything it is not necessarily about keeping them clean so much as making them easier to keep clean - if that makes sense...

Doing it twice a year on a couple of cars would be quite expensive.

I used it after having my Merc wheels refurbed and it's been on for nearly 18mths and still seems to work OK - wheels just sponge clean.

I have an old tin of Rimwax in the shed. Is it worth using this on very good re-cut / re-lacquered M3 wheels??
