I applied Auto Glym paint renovator to my car, after I washed the car,in order to erase a fresh bird deposit that had left a mark/ stain on the paint.
Although I was careful I have been left with several streaks / light scratches and the poo stain is still visible.
Any advice how I can rectify this.

Another go with your renovator but using lighter pressure, failing that having it machine polished. Bird poo is a knob.

Machine polishing is quite often the only way if it's really badly etched in.

You'll need a rotary and some compound, I've used 3M products in the past with good results. They do a fine, extra fine and a cutting paste. I've always used the cutting compound first with bird doodoo then finish off with several passes with the other two. You simply won't get rid of it with anything else I'm afraid. (And probably risk causing more damage too)

If she does that to your car I wouldn't take her out again.

I had a bird poo mark for years I assumed was etched in, then 2 weeks ago I used co-op washing up liquid (yeh I'm mad me, just don't care) and it washed away like magic! And yet years of car shampoo and specialist cleaners had failed!

If you happen to be in or very near to London or Kent drop me a PM. I'll happily go over it with a DA polisher to try and shift it you like?

Seriously removed some solid bird poo off my roof, and it does a lot more than that too.

Don't laugh, but baby wipes are one of the best products for getting rid of hard deposits like bird crap. They are especially good for removing insects from the windscreen too.

I think the main thing to be careful of here is grit in the bird poo itself. You need to carefully remove it with a sort of 'plucking' action, rather than a wiping action, as even the smallest drag across the surface of the paint will leave marring or even scratching. Only once the poo and its grit is removed, I would then use some waterless cleaner like Megs Wax n Wax to clean any remaining small marks of poo left behind (depending how dirty your car is, you might just be better off washing the whole car). I'd then inspect the surface of it, and then see if it needs polishing.

When you wash your car, always make sure that there is somehow a layer of wax or protection left onto the car (I use AG aquawax). This won't prevent bird poo acid damaging your paint, but will buy you some time!

One of the reps (sorry, territory managers) at my work will likely be along shortly looking for advice on what to do with his stty Mundane-o, eeklaugh .

Sat parked for over a week like that, then he simply made a half-hearted attempt at cleaning the glass before driving off. That was 4 weeks ago and the bodywork is still like that today (in fact there have been more than a few additions to the 'collection') so I dread to think what state the paint underneath will be like now, nono .

Duly noted good sir. I had hoped, after seeing the title of the thread , to find a few handy hints.

I have a double whammy of twins on the way (baby wipes galore) AND a car parked under a power line that pigeons sit on. My car is their personal dartboard!
