The other day I spent a good 5-6 hours doing my Z4 using the following products;

Bilt Hamber shampoo
Menzema power finish 2200 (machine polish)
Poorboys black hole
Mequiar's liquid wax
Turtle wax gloss guard

Now don't get the wrong it looked great but I also did another car just using one product (greased lightning showroom shine) & the results were just as good and only took 30 minutes. Am I missing something??

The second car may have been in better condition or had paintwork that is easier to obtain a good result etc..

I've used various products over the years and can't say I've been astounded by the differences between them.
As with everything it can become an obsession, even the halfords turtle wax products do a good job these days.
I can't see why you would need to put someone else's wax on top of another wax !

The Turtle Wax Gloss Guard is a top coat sealant. It did say to apply after waxing. Assume this is what you mean?

I thought it was meant to be sealant before wax if you are using both?

With regards to the original question, I guess it depends on the gaps between applications is.

On the instructions it says leave the wax on for 2 hours then apply the gloss guard so not sure?

I feel the same, spent hours on my black Tuscan, I then cleaned my stepdaughter's red audi tt with Tango one spray stuff, no difference in shine, 30mins on the TT, 5 hours TVR
