Hi all, I've noticed some rust that's been painted over on one of my cars door sills. It hasn't been done well and the paint is bubbling as the rust hadn't been removed.

My plan is to remove the paint with sand paper then attack ghe rust with hammerite or similar rust remover. My issue is how to achieve a smooth paint finish that blends in. I suspect spray painting the area would result in a smoother finish than using a brush? Brush strokes are hard to avoid I find! The area to be painted is only 2x1 inches. My issue with spraying is that I'll be doing the work outdoors and it's likely to go everythere, bearing in mind the car door will have to be open!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

You could try a gloss roller to get a better finish, try to remove traces of rust first as most converter type products dont work.
Some sills have a textured finish anyway so i would not have thought it would be that obvious if you brushed on.
