I use poor boys black hole followed by turtle wax colour magic, then a good wax then a sealer I'm trying to get my head around how the colour magic helps give the deep red shine to my car as its only going I top of the clear coat ? If I didn't have a clear coat I'd understand I see how it would fill light scratches but that's it .

You have the application order mixed up.

Turtle wax colour magic -I'm not familiar with colour magic but it says it's a polish, so that should be done first. (After clay, iron fallout removal e.t.c.)
Black hole next.
Sealant next.
Finally, finish with a wax.

colour magic effective on Newer, not new - shouldn't be necessary - cars will cover minor blemishes and give lovely gloss, especially black. Obviously, though, it doesn't disguise deeper scratches after a wash or two.

You're quite correct in your thinking. Colour Magic is designed to mask scratches, on most modern paint finishes (clear over colour), it'll actually dull the finish if anything.

I'd use something like Meguiar's Ultimate Polish if it's a polish you're after, or their Ultimate Compound (less aggressive) or Scratch-X (more aggressive) if you have scratches to try and correct (I just happen to like Meguiar's stuff).

Poorboys black hole is a glaze.

You want to glaze the car then wax it.

Don't worry about using a sealant as it's pretty much the same as a wax.

Don't bother with the colour magic.

The black hole will do as much filling and hiding as the colour magic. If anything give it two coats of the Black hole then a couple of coats of wax.

If your paint is a colour only - no clear over the top - then there is an argument that it may seem to give better colour, but I would always say it's a product that "masks" defects rather than correcting them. It's a bit of a gimmick.

If you want a "one hit" product, I'd try Meguiar's Cleaner Wax, but the traditional approach of using specific products to do specific jobs is generally best.
