sure this has been asked before have a small panel to paint has been primed with a filler primer in 1k, then finished in white 1k, I would like to clear lacquer in a proper 2k !!! needs to be a 2k finish... question is can i just coat the white as is or do I need to light sand the white? assume the white will have to be dry before the 2k goes on to stop any reaction advise and help very welcome Will be using the activate in the tin style spray due to size of job thanks in advance guys...
When you say white 1K i'm assuming you mean basecoat! If so, i recall many years ago when paint manufacturers would give you a 'window' before you clear coated. This meant that once you layed your base coat, you had a small amount of time in which you could spray the 2K clear. In the 16 yrs I've been painting i never did this as i believe that the solvent in the clear reactivates the basecoat, and have never had a problem. Now i paint the detailing on Lamborghinis and stick with this system. So you should be okay.
As i've never sprayed 2K clear onto a job with a 1K primer i couldn't tell you if there would be some kind of reaction.

There can be, depending on the amount of solvent in the 2k clear. Can appear as a wrinkled effect on the area over the primer. I've had it happen so it's one of the reasons why I never use 1k aerosol primer although I know many who do.As i've never sprayed 2K clear onto a job with a 1K primer i couldn't tell you if there would be some kind of reaction.
