My pride and joy is going into hibernation for the Winter as we are off to warmer climes.
She will be Carcooned with a trickle charger, I have a 100% cotton opened duvet cover to protect from scratches as I put the Carcoon cover over her.
Should I apply a coat of aquawax or similar and just leave it on rather than polish it off, for added protection?
I always remember new cars coming with a wax coating on.
Are there pitfalls to leaving something like aquawax on, unpolished, for the Winter like being a b****r to remove come Spring or is this a good option.
Thanks

I would remove the wax before placing under the protective cover. I store a car for 8 months a year in the USA and apply a decent coat of wax...and the humidity is my problem. Just be careful of fluid levels and tyres.

Thanks, it's just I remember years ago when I was in the trade all new cars came witn a layer of wax that had to be steam cleaned off, I though that it maybe a good idea to leave un-buffed.

I think the product used by the storage companies was a more industrial wax. Most of these vehicles today have some form of protective sheeting covering the horizontal surfaces. Just apply some quality wax, two coats and remove. You will be fine.

If it's in a carcoon I'd just leave it bare and wash it when it comes out.

If you leave wax on, any dust that makes it through the filters will sit on the surface. If you buff it off when you take the car out again you will be buffing a mixture of wax and dust. Doesn't sound great.
