Best ultrasonic cleaner - carbs etc
Discussion
http://bandelin.com/produkte/?lang=en I have the smallest one to clean my glasses. Also useful for small carburettors and other small parts.
I'll recommend one with a heater, if you can reuse your liquid for several cycles, as heat improves the cleaning process. Also, choose the cleaning agent according to the contamination you want to remove. Makes a huge difference!

Thanks guys... I am looking at one of the fairly large (22 litres) ones with the heater etc. Should be large enough to get my little (1360 cc) cylinder heads in.
Will cost ~£200 but I have 3 engines in the garage, brakes and other bits and pieces for rebuild.
To be honest; I can imagine finding quite a few things to throw in it. One of those things you didn't know you needed until you had it! At least that's what I tell Mrs9

As I recall there was some difference between the stated capacity and actual useable fluid capacity.
A '10l' capacity is the total. The fluid level has to be well below the top plus the basket arrangement sits above the bottom and away from the sides so there's a very much smaller volume left for the actual part being cleaned.

Looking at the measurements and where they seem to be taken; it looks like the internal 'bowl' is a fair bit smaller.
I haven't ordered yet. Will take a tape out to the garage and measure some parts and add a 25-50mm 'border' to the size I need. I'll go up a size if needs be.
I guess the larger it is, the more parts you can do at once.

For a head you're into a very big size plus a strong transmitter so I think £300+++
Mine are little, alloy Peugeot 106 1,360cc, single cam heads so they really are 'tiny' by modern standards.Dimensions look to be roughly 150mm x 170mm x 400mm
So, the 22 litre here looks like it ought to work (would give 25mm or so over the length):

I used one of the big eBay ones for my head, bit it was rubbish so I sent it back.
I'm now going for a soda blasting kit. Figure I can just do it outside and let the soda blow away seeing as it's soluble and environmentally friendly.
Interesting... Linky to the sort of kit you're looking at?I'm now going for a soda blasting kit. Figure I can just do it outside and let the soda blow away seeing as it's soluble and environmentally friendly.

I think that's the ideal - quick too. Do you know how much soda it uses? Is it sort of 50 quids worth for a head or is it minimal?I'm now going for a soda blasting kit. Figure I can just do it outside and let the soda blow away seeing as it's soluble and environmentally friendly.
