Hi,
First post here but been lurking for a long time. I'm collecting a new 340i at the weekend and having declined the dealers kind offer for Supagard at a rather expensive price I'm thinking of getting a new car protection package done by a 'detailer'.
Was hoping for some recommendations around West Yorkshire/Leeds/Harrogate. Would be interested to hear people's views on if this is worth doing etc. on what will be a daily drive and how much is the going rate?
Thanks in advance,
Hamperman

Nice choice of car & you were right to refuse the offer of an overpriced and underperforming dealer applied product.

You'll be able to locate your nearest Gtechniq detailer on the following link -
http://gtechniq.com/detailing-services/

and a cost estimate here -
http://gtechniq.com/service/

cheers

Hi Hamperman,

As you are in the area, I would strongly suggest you get in touch with the guys at Reep Automotive - http://reepdetailing.co.uk/

They are an official Swissvax detailing centre as well as being a G-Techniq detailer and have an unbelievable portfolio of work.

If you speak to Chris or Myles, do let them know that Rich from Classic Details sent you.

Do not get the dealer applied crap.
Take the car to a detailer and have a ceramic coat such as gtechniq c1 or carpro cquartz uk.
A new car protection is around £400.

Definately have a good detailer put a coating on your car and not the dealership. 99% of the brand new cars I detail have swirls, scratches and defects inflicted by their valeters, they have no idea of the damage they are doing when they do these sort of new car preps. Shame you aren't closer!

Here's a picture behind the scenes of a new BMW detail I prepped in their wash bay at a BMW dealership in Kent. So be aware, this tat is used on brand new motors. They told me off for taking too long to wash the BMW with my own products.

Complete.

Sorry to hijack the OP's original thread but I'm in the same boat. Getting a new car soon and I'm interested in getting it sorted by a professional rather than the Audi dealership ;-)

Has anyone used these guys?

SL Restoration
49 Gatwick Road
Manor Royal
Crawley
RH10 9RD

They are the official GTechniq guys closest to the dealership... wonder if they can detail the car on their premises before I pick it up?

Thanks in advance beer

SL are good from what I've seen online. I'm over in Essex, not sure if that's too far from you.

You will certainly not be disappointed by Nick @ SL Restoration! - a Detailer at the very top of his game.

Enjoy your new car.

Thanks for the quick feedback guys - I'll see if he is available and whether or not the garage will let him do his thing on their premises. If not, I'll need to use a detailer local to me (just outside Glasgow) since I'll need to go down on a plane and drive home the same day thumbup

I was in the same situation last year. Although it goes against the grain, I think you should at least get the dealership to wash it.
The reason for this is that you need to check the car is perfect before you sign the dotted line and you can't do that unless its clean. I'm sure the detailer can take out any little swirls this causes later.

I was going to get mine detailed professionally but ended up doing it myself. It took me about 3 days! I was surprised how much stuff came off with claying a new car.

I have looked at PPF fitted by Topaz detailing in Park Royal expensive but self healing scratches with hot water/air or Miracle detail @ dunsfold using modesta protection fluid both companies are top of their games.

thanks

Where? Or should I say, any recommendations for a reasonably priced decent outfit in NW England? A Gtechniq quote is near £800 for a brand new car and only a single stage polish + protection (glass, seats, carpet etc). I have a lease car on order and want it to stay decent but I certainly don't want to pay nearly an extra grand for the privilege of keeping someone else's car looking new. tongue out

Why on earth would you spend money to get a lease car detailed/protected.
£30 at Halfords and a bit of elbow grease would be my limit for one of those.

Had a new 65 plate lease car in this weekend for Gtechniq protection, some people just take care of what they use I guess - and rightly so, you won't get stung when you give it back if you look after it.
