Devilbiss Pri Pro vs Gti Pro

Im not a pro by any means, just a guy that messes around in his garage so my knowledge of spray guns is limited
I picked up a Devilbiss PTI PRO with both the 1.4 and 1.8 set up very cheap. I am aware this is marketed as a primer gun but in reality what is the difference between this gun in 1.4 set up and a GTI Pro in 1.4 set up with a T1 cap (they are both Trans-Tech)?
I know the Devilbiss leaflet says that the GTI and Pri caps are not compatible but is this actually the case? Without actually have the two caps to compare it does not seem likely to me that Devilbiss would have gone to the trouble to make them incompatible as most other parts are. Is there is a difference between the P1 and T1 cap? If yes what / where? They look suspiciously close to me based on the pics provide.
Is this just a marketing exercise? Has anyone tried it? Has anyone tried spraying base and clear with the PTI PRO set up as 1.4 – if yes what where the results like?
