Not so much a dark art as requiring lots & lots & lots of practice on scrap panels before you try one for real.
A course of some sort would be worthwhile to learn the basic techniques as you can't do it by watching videos.
Some of the PDR companies offer courses & you'll need to do an internet search.
Whilst I do carry some PDR tools I only use them for roughing out bigger damage to reduce the amount of filling required.
If you do take it on & master it then you are in a position to go pretty much anywhere in the world & be in demand - around 4 years ago a hail storm went across parts of Leicestershire & the insurance companies brought in PDR techs from all over Europe.
