I was offered this on my new (to me) motorbike and decided to look into having the cars done at the same time.

I've been offered a bit of a deal (with a 5 year guarantee) but wanted to seek feed back from anyone that had this stuff applied.

Thanks in advance.

If your actually paying for it and it's not a freebie then don't bother mate.

The problem is with those coatings is not so much the coating itself but the prep work required before applying. To give you an idea me and my ex both bought brand new Renaults (Twingo 133 FYI haha) back in 2010. They offered some Glasscoat protection which I wasn't prepared to pay for it. They tried to throw it in for free and applied it to the Ex's car but on mine they simply threw the kit for coating the car myself into the boot for me to do if I wanted to. Fair enough.

So I had a read of the Glasscoat instructions and they were extremely specific. The car had to be contaminant free so you're talking tar removal, iron fallout removed etc. The car then had to be completely degreased which I would imagine means panel wiping. The application needed to be done in a shaded indoor area and the product left on the car for something like 90 minutes to cure before buffing.

Now, my understanding of most dealerships is that they have a handful of guys with buckets, sponges and chamois leathers ready to scrape the dirt off cars. I strongly suspect that when they apply these products very little if any prep work is done and in turn the product won't bond properly so it's life will be months not the years claimed.

My personal recommendation is that as great as these sound they're not worth the money they'll charge you. You'd be better off either spending £50-100 on good, easy to use detailing gear that means you can protect your cars for years to come or book in with a professional detailer for a coating to be applied.

If the application is free then nothing to lose but you're better off not paying for it.
