Tried several times last weekend to get a password reminder- nothing. Then tried to re-register - nothing. Emailed the webmaster - nothing. Is there any other way to get in, or an alternative detailing site I can seek advice through?

Given that DW is not working, or even accepting new registrations, I wonder if I could pose the questions here for advice, as I need to replenish my cleaning products:

I been using Meguiars polish for a few years, but I've found it hard to remove once applied (all by hand). Even doing a panel at a time it takes a lot of effort to buff off. Are there any other well respected products that would take less effort?

For the first time a few months back, I put some Meguiars wax on top of the polish, and this just left what I guess is called holograms - almost a 3d effect. Normally I don't bother with wax. What did I do wrong (aside from not giving it to a pro)?.

After washing, and drying with a good quality very absorbent fluffy towel, as soon as the towel get a little damp, it seems to leave smears - difficult to describe, but very obvious to see. Is the a result of living in a medium hard water area? Even trying to then polish off with detailing spray doesn't work.

Any guidance appreciated.

You could do far worse than Autoglym's super resin polish, it does offer a little protection on its own but is best topped with a wax. Something like Xpert-60 nano express wax or bilt hamber double speed wax would give you a durable finish.
For extremely quick application Gyeon Cancoat takes some beating...also very durable.

Difficult to say what the cause of the smears are without seeing in the metal.

cheers

Tried to joining the DW forum today as have a new car turning up shortly and was looking for some advice/recommendations. Not had my account authorised yet, anyone know whether the DW issues are ongoing or am I just being impatient?

Was logged in earlier, all seems to be fine.

Maybe email admin if you haven't been authorised overnight.

I contacted DW admin for you and they asked me to pass this message on to you :

Hi,

Detailingworld has an automated login process every new member gets an activation email, this can often be put into the spam folder or junk email folder, on activation of this email, admin then authorise the members account normally daily but on occasions can be 48 hrs.

The admin email is monitored on weekly basis to activate any queries , we endeavour to answer issues in a timely manner, we monitor our Facebook page for messages regularly and normally if people have an issue it can be rectified very quickly, we apologise on this occasion if we haven't fulfilled these requirements. We will look into this and endeavour to put into place more robust processes. Apologies Dw chief

Which Meg's polish are you using? It could be application that's giving you grief removing it.
Very little product is needed and then working it fully should give you a very fine film to buff away.

Again with the wax holograms, either too much product or just removing it too soon is usually the cause for this.
Apply a very thin layer, allow to settle and do a finger swipe. If it comes away cleanly, it's ready to buff. If it smears leave a few minutes and test again
