Hi, hopefully the picture has worked! I can't get these clean and shiny! I've tried Autosol and Britemax twins with fine wire wool. I've watched clips online that look worse than mine and come up shining like new so what am I doing wrong! Any advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers

It's not that clear in the picture but is the chrome coming off?

try spraying with WD40 and leave awhile, may dissolve whatever it is

What grade wool are you using? gtechnique M1 is pretty good. It will take time and these may never come up looking as good as new.

Tried WD40'but didn't really make any difference. Been using a couple of grades of wire wool. I loosened the exhaust tips off today so I could push them down to get better access but it still doesn't look great. I'm wondering if the 'Nano coating' has come off in parts although I'm not sure what that coating is!

Looks like the outer layer of protectant on the chrome has failed. Cleaning isnt helping.

It is stainless steel and not chrome.

Doesn't look like stainless to me, looks like chrome.

Assuming yours are S/S I tidied up the tips on my exhaust with lessening grades of wet & dry finishing with Autosol.

Hi, it's definitely stainless steel - it's an OEM Porsche sports exhaust.

Is that wet and dry sandpaper you used? What was the roughest grade?

Reduced access is not going to make it easy. Do you have a Dremel wilth polishing attachments? That will make it easier. S/S is going to need a good bit of work starting with coarse polish then work down to fine.
If not to big a job it may be better to remove the tips/box to get better access and then use polishing mops in a drill.

Hi, access is ok as whilst I can't easily remove the tips I can undo the bolts and lower them which I have done, Don't have a dremel but do have a decent small cordless drill so like the ideal of the polishing attachments. Any advice as to what attachments I need and where best to get them from? Presumably somewhere will supply a pack of different pads?

Yes wet and dry as a last resort, sometimes the contamination is baked on and this will shift it. Remember to go easy and err on the side of caution.

Mine weren't that bad TBH & IIRC I started with 1200 & then went finer. Err on the side of caution & start fine & if not touching it you can go a bit courser rather than go too course to start with a then have to work hard to get out the scratches you've put in.

The tips could still be chrome plated, my car has a stainless steel exhaust as standard but the tips are plated.
