Professional Detail - Worth It?

Personally I like to DIY as I have a bit of an interest, but I realise a lot of people don't have the time or inclination to spend hours fettling their pride and joy.
To those I would say fill your boots and enjoy the car.

But to me personally, when I see 4 figures quoted for details I have to question the sense of it. Whatever the treatment, the car will pick up swirls and chips and dings and get covered in crap again.
But others clearly think differently and good luck to all concerned.
