Hi all

I'm in the middle of restoring a Range Rover Classic (thread here if you're intersted: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I'm getting towards the point where I'm approaching getting ready to send the body off for paint. I've fitted lots of new metal of various types, soe galvanised 1.25mm plate to make good rust spots, some new weld-in panels in the footwells and even complete new "bare metal" front wing assemblies. Also fitted a new painted boot floor.

I'm looking for a good general anti rust primer to brush over these areas. The vast majority will be covered by interior/ exterior trim, or in the case of the new metal, painted over in the booth when it goes in for paint.

Can anyone recommend a good general primer for all these types of metal, one which won't effect the painter when he gets the body?

Thanks in advance

Probably an epoxy. But before you choose, I'd ask your painter for advice. We don't know what sort of paint he intends to use.

I've used this stuff (and their 121 paint on areas that aren't being over-painted) with good results so far: https://www.rust.co.uk/product/cat/custom-421-rust...
