Luckily I don’t wear denim. I have leather sofas so I know how much damage denim can do.

I sitting on a cream throw at the moment until the car is done ?? after that the detailer tells me everything will just wipe off

It was just the Sun I was concerned about, but if you’re saying it won’t be a problem, that’s great
There isn't a 'paint' (pigment is a type of) that can't be faded by the giant ball of gas in the sky. You can only use the best protector, keep it out of direct sun where possible, and keep the roof up to lesson the odds of fading.

Cars are tested in full sun/UV... there are plenty of markets where the sun is much stronger (or even present, assuming you are UK based!) and the trim is designed to withstand it.

To keep the trim at its best, keep it cleaned regularly and use a very light conditioner, nothing oily or creamy as it will just sit on top and go shiny. I can recommend the Colourlock products... they have UV protection. https://www.colourlock.co.uk/Care-Kit-for-New-Leat...

My Mercedes CLS has lived outside for 10 years, and has a light interior. The trim is in very good condition and I don't think was cherished as such by the previous owner.

I've owned a car (BMW) with Nappa leather seats from new for 23+ years. Although it was garaged, it was used as a daily so only really garaged overnight or when I was away on hols without the car. Usually I took the car. After 210,000 miles the seats (apart from the driver's seat which is worn) is as good as new. I used to buff it with Autoglym leather treatment once or twice a year, but there's been no noticeable fading or cracking whatsoever.

One thing to note is that I did order the car with both sun-protection glass on the windscreen and an '80s style blue sun-strip at the top of the windscreen. I don't know how much of a difference that sun-protection glass has made, but it was advertised as helping to keep the interior of the car cooler in summer rather than for UV protection.

Hi Robert, yes I’m in the UK.

I didn’t know car interiors were tested in the Sun like you said, so good to know thanks. Hopefully, I’ll be okay then.

Good to know that your Mercedes interior has lasted well. My detailer has done the ceramic coating and brought the car back today. He has treated the interior leather with some sort of product and he said if I top it up every six months I should be okay.

Lunarone, my garage is full, so it’s on the drive. Should be ok. Glad yours has lasted 23+ years. Makes me feel much better. Although they don’t make things like they used to, so you probably had better seats than I have smile

The sun protection glass might have been what has saved your seats?

Thanks for your comments/help
