How much would the repairs to that Lambo seat have cost? I have similar damage to my passenger seat where the girlfriend got in the car with some stupid belt on, I assumed I'd need to live with it but your pictures give me hope..

For under £500 you could get the whole set recovered in original leather with any repairs done to the padding and it would last for ages if properly cared for and protected with the correct solvents. I would cough up and go for a re-trim.
Can you expand on this?

Where from? and pictures of the finished work?

I would speak to the following people for a better quote. My BMW seats were done by B-Trim based in Enfield, who do amazing work for a very reasonable cost using OEM leathers. Or for something more bespoke but NOT more expensive contact

Hi guys,

Apologies for digging up an old thread. I have similar side bolster cracking on my wife's BMW (black leather) I'd like to try and sort out and to a lesser extent a small amount on my XKR (cranberry leather). Very impressed with Kelly's photo's here and was wondering if it was possible to have a go at this myself first to see how I get on. Is there anywhere I can order some sort of kit to do this or is it better to bite the bullet and just goto the professionals?

If possible I'd attempt the wife's car first and see how I get on biggrin

Cheers
Graham

bmw z4 seat before

I have the exact same seats in my Z4 and need them recolouring!

I had a go today and apart form the shade being the wrong colour [thank dynamix] it looked rubbish as it looked swirly and patchy.

I used a high density sponge but DIDNT mix any water in with it like you said to do.

How much water do you dilute and how many coats do you apply? Also how many mls would you use for a std seat without too much damage but needed the whole seat coloured?

Thank you very much, if I lived closer then I would use you!

Fantastic Kelly!

I have ordered the Scuffmaster dye in Oregan Beige [correct colour!].

Could I do the recolour with just a selection of foam pads? Is an airbrush neccessary? Have you done a restoration without one?

Do I need to dilute it on every application?

I have stripped the leather back to having no dye on both seats so it should soak in easily.

Im into my second coat and I am starting to think Kelly is a god!

Non of the instructions say to water down the dye [I have used dynamix and scuffmaster], however I gave it a shot and it looks awesome already.

I am doing 50/50 split with water, and drying each with a hairdryer and leaving round 2 hours between coats. I am using a sponge and with this method it doesnt show any streaks.

OK, I managed to get my passenger seat done today! Took me around 7 thin coats.

I didnt do a before on the pass seat but it looked identical to my drivers seat:-

This is how it looks now [before conditioning as I have to wait a day or two before applying].

Ive been reading you threads over there - simply amazing!

I wouldnt have been able to do it without the diluting technique that the manufacturers do not mention.

A big thank you.

When in your opinion is it a good time to start conditioning the leather?

You dont need to condition repainted/dyed leather as such as its a painted surface really .

And says on the paint bottle if you look built in sealer .

You are not conditioning the leather more sealing the paint , which i then use LTT product .

KDS,

Rather than starting a new topic, I thought I'd tag my query in here.

I have an Accord Type R with the suede / alcantara Recaro seats, the fronts are fine, but the top edges of the rears have suffered a bit of bleaching from the sun I guess and the once black suede / alcantara has gone a bit purple.

Can suede / alcantara be re-died / coulored?

Sorry for the delay ,

the quick answer is dont know never had to fix something like that before .

closest is the re - dye carpets and trim on TVR's which is not suede / alcantara just wool and cloth .

contact LTT solutions their maybe able to help
