It's late and I have had a few wines, but is it me or are the V8s all about quarter miles and power? I guess this is obvious but are any known for, say, an excellent chassis and handling? Does this rule out all utes? How do they handle and don't they have like a 70:30 weight dist? All genuine Qs, I have seen some tastey beasts since being here!
It's all about power and noise.

They are not *that* fast, even in a straight line.

It's all about being able to shred tyres in 30 seconds, and making big number 11's up the road.

Then burbling off on your delaminated tyres.

From what I've read, traditionally the blue badges handle better, but the reds have more power.

Utes generally have leaf springs on the back, and no weight. As they'll be setup as propper tradies cars so a pallet of goods can be stuffed in.

Ford utes have leaf spring suspension; Holdens have coils.

Probably the other way around, the Fords have more power but the VE Commodore utes handle better. Sedans i don't know about.
As mentioned the Ford ones are still using leafs on the back, and are still really based on the AU Ute platform so they can usually carry more.
My Ute can carry 500kg in the back and tow about 1600kg, but it's handling is one of its strong points. Ok I would not disable the ESC in the wet either! or lets say I am adverse to risk so haven't disabled it.
If you are in Melbourne, you are quite welcome to drive it!

You carefully checked I was in sydney first didn't you! wink

Well.....looking at budget at the moment I am still a few months off from car decisions but I am heavily leaning on the 350Z at the moment given the price of everything else. i was going to pull the trigger on a Cayman S back home with prices around the £25k mark but with the move a Cayman is probably now out of budget. The boxster is probably in....its probably down to a few. I think the older Boxsters are a bit low on power really but I think i will go try a few. There is a local Nissan garage so I might go and try and organise a drive in a 350Z they have there in the next few weeks.

I think the big V8s are not for me. Maybe later when I need 4 doors and rear seats...
