Hello

I'm wondering if anyone has recent experience in transferring cash from a bank in the UK to Australia? I've found a couple of companies on google so am looking for a recommendation or any other ideas. moneycorp and ozforex are the companies I've found.

It will be around £30-40,000

Cheers

We used Halo.

We agreed an exchange rate, and then waited.

From Natwest to Anz. No issues.

I just did it via my bank, agreed rate. Did it on the day I left and was in my Oz account by the time I arrived.

I now send money the other way every few months again simply bank to bank.

I use Ozforex, no hassles and reasonable rates.

James your bank will be killing you on exchange rates.

I'd second HiFx, used them recently for Aus->UK transfer, great rate and very efficient.

Also used Ozforex before but the rate with HiFx was better recently.

I use Ozforex too - they are easy and rates good. Kills my bank.

Hi Guys

Apologies for not coming back here to thank you for the advice. I chose Halo in the end. It's a personal service with one advisor to talk to etc. They offered a better rate than Hifx and said they would always beat it.

I have had to send the cash in pieces to them due to limits from my bank but hopefully I'll see the cash this week in Oz.

Thanks again

Let us know how you get on.

The AUD seems to be dropping quite a bit at the moment.

Well the money has landed. I sent the final part of the transfer to them yesterday, Monday, at around 1630. I've travelled to Dubai overnight and the cash has hit my account. I received an email at 2050 Adelaide time so it has gone in sometime after that.

Nice quick service IMO. The only wait was due to sending them the money from my bank in portions.

I got a rate of 1.53. When I started this hunt a month ago it was only 1.42!! :O

If anyone wants the name of the particular trader I used then I can pass it on.

Used HIFX a lot over last couple of years, you can agree a rate and wait or move quickly
On a different rate. They give you good advice and are easy to deal with, I would use them again without any doubts

In the same boat and would like to know if anyone can make a more recent recommendation. Looking to transfer 100K GBP to AUD and crystal ball predictions would be appreciated!

We signed up to Moneycorp when we moved out here.

For large amounts of money I believe they assign a representative to your transaction.

Otherwise you keep an eye on the rates yourself.

Transfer wise any good?

Not used HiFx, mainly use smart currency when GBP to EUR, but me being on the wrong of the time zone doesnt allow much chance for my trader to talk with me and its my business account, this is personal.

With regards Hifx is there a minimum amount you can use? Reason I ask is my brother lives in Oz and we send funds for birthday / christmas etc and currently send it via paypal gift and I think its 0.5% charge so not much but sending more it can be a fair chunk.

we are looking to send alot more money soon to the tune of a fair few thousand so looking to be cost affective.
