Received some new pads which will go on soon...

Australian made they come recommended on Just Commodores forum.... QFM HPX. Apparently low dust and noise plus high performance pads. anyone used them?

Its not easy to see how much pad you have left with out taking everything apart but I figure its time...do these cars come with a dash alert on low pads anyone know? I somehow doubt it!

I'll hopefully be home at some point soon for two weeks when the kid is born (expected the 30th) so I might be able to get out and do that job towards the end of the two weeks....although I suspect I will be sufficiently distracted and might not want to!

There is no dash alert to say low pads. Wheels off has been the only way I can see the pads. Maybe check the back pads too.
Have QFM pads on my old car. Normally reasonably priced too. Not doing the discs too? Normally as cheap as getting them machined. Ebay is a good guide for prices, $200 for slotted, $100ish for standard non slotted. The standard VE V8 cars have bigger discs than the V6 cars. PBR are the stock ones, DBA are good, RDA are another one, the rest don't know them. If they weren't so heavy I'd send some 10,000km old ones up from my sedan. Normally find if you know the numbers and go into the parts places, they give you a reasonable price.

My discs are fine. I don't need to change them. i would not normally unless I was upgrading or they were damaged/scored. These aren't.

Well I am not THAT disappointed - just thought it would be throatier than it is. It's the tiniest of distances from outside to manifold now, so not likely to be too noisy. I am sure its very efficient.

I need to get it out on a long run and stretch its legs a bit. Not had a chance yet...
Well my OTR has been collected.

It's got a spacer for the MAF-less included, so I'll have to see if I can use the other hosing to fit it round my MAF.

Will give it a look this week.

Well changed my pads.....my old ones were only half worn! you really have to take off the caliper to see them so its a bit of a pain. Oh well...better pads on now.

Just got to get a tune now!

The AP callipers just have the pads pop out without needing to remove them.

Still not done a fluid change, and it's knackered after a track day and the open day at Barbagallo.

My OTR is still sat in the garage.

Finally got my OTR on yesterday.

Car seems less laggy and more urgent now. Just need to get some extra hose for the crank breather, that didn't quite fit.

I'll get the hose in and see if I get any improvement in economy. Before it was doing about 9.8 l/100 @ 100kmph with the AC on.

Took mine out on the track again this weekend. After having the auto box tuned it was a lot better.

Still feels like racing an armchair, but bloody good fun.

Another years insurance was under $900.

Finally swapped my OTR to the revised one (was done FOC by VCM, as the fitment was dodgy on the original). Also got a brake fluid bleed through it. Actually stops proper now.

Only issue I've now got is there is dust *in* the headlights. I bought a headlight restore kit, and then found that the haze was on the inside.

Still enjoy the car, but starting to think what I'd chop it in for. Not sure anything gives the bang-for-buck that this does.

No idea to be fair. It'll be a while I think as there are a few big ticket items I'll need to look at first.

It's more of a case of finding what I'm after, and then working out how to afford it.

Car sales is going to be an annoying place for the next year or so - so much choice and you just end up flip flopping laugh

Finally bought some headlights, and fitted. Quad HIDs, so they light up the road well.

So this weekend I also :-
Refitted the OTR as I realised I'd not done it properly.
Bought a Valentine One to pick up on any hidden cameras.
Ran an oil change through it. 8L of the stuff. Biggest struggle was getting it on the ramps.

Sounds good mate.

What's the Valentine One like, is it worthwhile, how much, where from etc? Keen to get one but not sure if work well - thoughts appreciated.

New - $769 from a place in Ozzy Park. I got mine off GumTree.
There are a few hardware revisions, and software updates.
You can only upgrade by sending the unit back to the US, so double check the numbers.

Seems very customisable. Only been running it properly this weekend, seems good.
There are plugins for an iPhone/Andriod app etc.

Will let you know after a few weeks.

Cool thanks for that. Very interested to see how you go.

Does it pick up all cameras (handheld/multinova/traffic light)?

Also how far out does it start beeping - enough time check yourself?

Does everything, apparently. With the range, it's all dependent, but they recon so. It's enough time to scrub of 10/20kmph anyhow.

Apart from Laser, once you are zapped, that's it (so you hope to pickup on some scatter of someone ahead so you can slow in time). But Laser seems pretty rare. It's usually the tripod and snoozing copper on the roadside.

Also totally legal in WA (not anywhere else).
