The natives are probably all too busy getting excited about Hiluxes to care if they can get an exciting car for $40k.

Speaking to some older colleagues they say there has been a noticeable drop in the number of "hoons" on the roads in recent years thanks to the speed cameras and hoon laws. The down side is that there has been a significant increase in the amount of rubbish left on and around 4WD tracks within an hour of the metro area.

That's the point I spose that there's pretty much no new cars that excite for less than$40k so used it is...

Cheapest new V8 must be $70k.
Thought the VF SS started around $40k?

I took a SS-V Redline for a drive, very impressed and I was a hater before.

Yeah, the redline is $54k ish but the base SS which I think has the same engine is $40kish I thought.

I think what I liked about the redline was that it is just a good all rounder. The interior is now very modern and a nice place to be. Comes with all the tech you could want. The car is very quiet and comfortable, the engine is probably too quiet for some though. Lots of space for 5 adults, cavernous boot. It's a big car but felt very nimble and well setup - as well as reportedly being a 5 second car for 0-100.

Compared to what else is on the market it's an absolute bargain. I mean what else is there around the $50k mark. - you are lookng at the top end versions of the Mazda 6, Camry, Altima etc or various SUVs like RAV 4's. Anything comparable you'd need to spend $100k more on a Euro and even then they could be slower.
