Random history lesson.

For a long long time Australia did not have many large cities, just lots of country towns. As such there were no towns big enough for dedicated race tracks and we were not left with a mass of empty airfields after WW2 that could be turned in to circuits like in the UK.

Country towns used to be turned in to circuits on the weekends and run as 'round the houses' events. The main straight would often be the town high street.

Northam is one of these towns and they still recreate the event now. Look out for the Albany Classic to.

Race cars from that era are a bit different to. They were often built from local or American road car chassis with a custom body on them. They can look a bit agricultural but they are entertaining to see.
