If by crap I assume that you are referring to the SMG then no it didn't. I presumed that it did as it shared its engine with the E46 M3 (which of course had an SMG option) but just checked and its manual only.
I've known 2 guys with SMG who have converted to manual because they were sick of gearbox issues I don't trust this new fangled technology.

Fair enough but it seems to be like marmite as I know people who love it and hate in equal measures. Some people even prefer it to the newer and much smoother DCT because of its flaws as it adds character and is a bit more raw compared to the DCT. I don't trust this new fangled technology.

Phenomenal value. Dont say that much in Oz but compared to an E46/E90 of a similar age thats just fabulous.Much want.
I've been thinking for a long time that if and when I reallocate the garage space from the 928 I'm going to get something more sensible and with less potential for big bills.

Through the honeymoon period then... At least the SM will continue to look fantastic wherever it gets parked/abandonedhttp://carsales.mobi/cars/details/1973-citroen-sm/...
I'm sorry for this but I can't help it - yes it's bogan, yes it's not prestige but fark me if its not damn good looking, desirable, near 500bhp with a little tinkering and oh for the GTR-esque tailpipes.
I'm not a trueblue so I don't see over priced, heavily depreciating trash but 'oh my god, old school RWD power'.
This in this spec (less the towbar) - perfect.

Why scrub the tow bar?
Surely horse floats & box trailers deserve a little excitement too.
It looks like the cars 'prairie dogging'.Surely horse floats & box trailers deserve a little excitement too.

Active Automotive are now doing a $20k drive in, drive out LSA swap.
Think it's about 500kw and they do it to any VE/VF ..
That sounds phenomenal but what else would be required on top? Another $20k together it sensibly workable? Are you then at about $75k?Think it's about 500kw and they do it to any VE/VF ..
I think it's car + $20k. So what's a VE SS going for now?

$15k apparently. Then whatever change you can get from selling the original L98.
From their FB page :-
"Our conversion LSAs are fitted with our stage 2 package which gives around 600rwhp"
Looking at the Stage 2 :-
overdriven balancer
160deg thermostat
K&N filter
Supercharger pulley upgrade
solid supercharger pulley coupling
upgraded fuel injectors
uprated camshaft
uprated valve springs
Thats 580kw (~770hp)
And the way it's written, there is nothing to do on top of that.
Somehow a 770hp wagon seems right.

I think to own it would be amusing but on the buying/value side of things -
1.The cheapest VE SS in decent nick is what, $20k. Add $20k for the package, then say $10k for the wheels and brakes and you are at $50k for a 7 yr old Commodore. Not a lot for 770bhp but a large chunk for for an older car.
2. If you have the cash, great, but its hard to get a decent finance deal on a 7 yr old car with say a balloon or low apr - therefore I would think you;d need to have $30k available for the mods.
Whats the thinking - would others do it?
But 770bhp would be 'interesting'.

I don't get Australian or us cars unless they are old cruisers
What is it about them you don't like?
Question (which I'm not sure of the answer) but if you wanted a truck load of pwer for say under $70k or something quick, useable and modern what can you get that you can actually finance reasonably well?
For instance an E9# M3 08 is a fine car (I'd rather have than an HSV) or a E60 M5 but its hard to get balloon related finance on cars that old which means you are left needing to stick a chunk of cash in or on expensive per month cost.

Different strokes and all that.I don't get Australian or us cars unless they are old cruisers
Where the thought of owning a BMW or a Euro hatchback sh*ts me to tears.

And I agree, throwing $20k at a $20k car is madness. But I've done similar before. The issue I have with the GenF is that only the GTS gets the LSA, and that's $100k.
Also, is there a series 2 round the corner? Flappy paddles and LT4?
A swan song for the Commodore?
