Whilst I’ve always fancied having an E24 BMW M635CSi, the want for an E28 M5 is magnitudes higher. Don’t try to reason with it, it just is. Checking prices in the UK, it seems GBP20k+ is now the norm, though who can tell, with the ads 4 Star Classics keep out there. Maybe GBP25k is more like it.
Anyway, Classic Throttle Shop have one in stock, of course its in great condition, ad says POA. So I went to have a look, thinking, “GBP20k is probably AU$60k.” It’s a hell of a stretch for me, and I started thinking of all the things I’d willingly give up in order to get to that number.
I won’t be buying it, as $60k is still shy of the asking price, and I just can’t see how to get any more. But, just for the purposes of humouring me, can I ask for some guesses as to the asking price.
As an aside, the dark blue Testarossa they have is simply stunning and worth the trip alone.

As a CTS tyre kicker for a few years now it looks like they get a lot of owners who put up their toys for sale at hugely unrealistic prices to see if the get a punt from someone with more money than sense.
Some times they do but mostly the cars are given a few months to sell then returned to the owners who will either keep them or try to punt then again in a year or two which is why you can often see the same car being sold through CTS appear a year or so later.

Man, that car is definitely not crap. The builder/owner is an ex Mini/Moke racer and is very well known in the scene. I reckon it would go and handle fantastically as well as just being generally awesome. These considerations over-rode things such as where the hell I'd keep it and how I could justify the expense yesterday. Today I think it harder to justify. But then maybe that's Monday depression and tomorrow I'll be back onto it...
I'll give you that it is awesome. For a moke. It's the for a moke part that I have the issue with.
Practicalities are for other people to worry about. You've got a carport. It can live there. Housemate doesn't need it anyway. Just do it. Never make a decision like this on a Monday. It's a late night decision after beers.

$15k you say? How about this? What could possibly go wrong with a 232k km E55 AMG?

Personally, having sold (well taken a deposit for) the Falcon I can now start looking for another toy.
The money should actually be spent on either fixing my ancient Merc, or a front fence, but the Finance Review Board has unwittingly given approval for a Ute provided it will live in the garage. The garage is currently occupied by said ancient Merc, a couple of bikes, the trailer and assorted ste. However getting a Ute would allow me to empty the 5x8 shed of all the ste filling it and then the bikes/trailer can live in there.
"Why not use the trailer to empty the shed?" I hear you all ask. Well, the only car with a tow bar is the ancient Merc and it is currently suffering from issues. I could fix them, but that would involve spending the Ute money on something that isn't a Ute, and using the trailer would mean I didn't need a Ute.
So I need a Ute, obviously.
In addition, I'm thinking about downsizing from an SS wagon to an SV6 wagon, and the fuel money saved doing that, plus the insurance I'm not spending on the Falcon, should be more than enough to insure a V8 Ute. Which means I still get my V8 fix when I want, but spend less on fuel getting to and from work.
I'm sure that logic holds water
So, for up to $10k the choices vary from this (preferred option but can be hideously rusty):
to this:
although a lot of the later ones have huge kms on them and I'm not too sure how well they hold up.
Anyway, once the Ford gets collected I might start looking properly.

Not sure I get the Moke love thang, but if it has to be a Mini, and you're off to QLD to get it, then add a few more pennies, and get this one...http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Leyland-...
Could be a proper giggle
