Daily Dreaming - what are you looking at?

If I was buying a wagon with my own money I'd be looking at a Mazda 6
Thats what I did a couple of years ago and it's dull, dull, dull! The 2.5 4-pot lump is noisy and gutless, the handling is a big disappointment despite trying 3 different types of tyre and I've had a host of niggling little problems - The latest of which is the door open switch thinking the door is open whilst driving down the freeway at night, turning on the courtesy lights in the cabin. Fuel economy is rubbish and steering feel isnt that great.Having said all that, the drivers seat is extremely comfortable on long journeys, the stereo is good, the boot is huge, its quiet on the freeway and the ride quality is good.
yep, holding off, but have the sales brochure for reference when they hit the second hand market.
also speculating that the government will relax the car importation laws at some point which would see car sale prices tank and allow a lot of Australians to get into something a lot more fuel efficient and with less emissions.
at the moment the dealers are making a massive profit.

An oft overused phrase but relevant in this example 'game changer' is quite apt.also speculating that the government will relax the car importation laws at some point which would see car sale prices tank and allow a lot of Australians to get into something a lot more fuel efficient and with less emissions.

Just wait till dealers ramp up service costs to recompense
yes, Australian auto market is in for a shake up over the next few years i think. better be prepared to either be able to move on what you have or stick with it for a while until stuff settles down.
for me that means either be in something that has caped price servicing and a long warranty
or something that is not going to take to much of a hit and has the possibility of good parts supply via the web from overseas spare parts suppliers. This means no complicated transmissions that are first generation and unknown from a reliability perspective.

Recently been dreaming of the 'if I had $65k' game and coincidentally $65K on a 1 yr old BMW 328 or one of these...
Room for all the family? Check.Able to cruise around in the sun? Check.
$65k? Check.

Talking of people being able to step into a car they couldnt previously afford - Now that Ford are bringing the mustang to Australia officially, just how annoyed would you be if you'd paid the $100k+ asking price for a grey import RHD conversion in the last year or so!? The used values of those must have fallen through the floor recently.

$60k get you in the top spec with all the options. Or a smidge more for the convertible.Shame the previous generation looked better to my eyes. The new one doesn't sit right.
I saw a new Falcon the other day, I'm not sure about the look vs the FG either.
When GM bring the Camaro over, or we get a few nice Dodges I'll bee looking. (and HSV have been linked with doing the RHD conversions for the Dodge Rams coming over at the end of the year, name change to Dodge Special Vehicles?)
Eco boost is $45k and V8 is $58k but not here until 2016 and not getting the Gt350 😕
Als not clear if those are landed costs or not. Interestingly, if they are landed then they're the same as a Monaro v6 and v8 cost in 2001! But still $20k more than in the US.
Shelby have released a range of dealer fit options to be available in Aus which includes supercharging to 750bhp 😬 Prices on the web in US$ only at the mo.

My mate that had the Taxi destroy his 135 is looking at one of these today (E60M5).he looked at a E46 M3 manual last week.
car market seems realy down at the moment.
12months ago i looked at the E60M5 but didn't think it was worth it at north of 55, with a bit of haggling very low 40's should be possible.
B7 RS4's haven't moved at all though, if anything they have gone up as they are still roughly the same price with more KMs

Mate just rang back......hated the SMG in the E60M5.he looked at a E46 M3 manual last week.

ruined the car
that's the same position he has come from, just jumped out of the 135 with the DSG and paddles into the older SMG in the M3/M5 and hatted it.
he is now looking at low mileage mint E36 M3's with a standard manual.
having had a look at the E46 M3s on offer there is a few there that look very very ordinary and tired. the E36s when bought on km/condition are comparable to the SMG E46.
he drove a Manual E46 the other day and found that a bit loose in comparison to the 135.

possibly lots of reasons
don't know, he has been driving around in a 135 with the N55 and dsg, as well as an Audi RS5 with DSG, so is likely tainted by that, i.e. knowing how good it can be verses how good the SMG is/was at the time. Things move on and get better all the time with technology an I expect it is no different with the gear boxes.
(we also both did days at palmer sport with the pneumatic shifted Hewland boxes in the LMP/Formula/Clio and the DSG in the E92 M3)
it was also only 1 example of the M5 that he was comparing, who knows, may have been a bit off.
its defiantly got me interested though, might have to have a good hard look at some of these at the end of the year when the current lease/loan expires.
if for no other reason than to say that i know.

dam it, now i want to know. Looks like it shifts all-right under full acceleration, must be a thing where it is a bit clunky around town
