$56,000 - a ridiculous bargain or vast moneypit, 20l/100km and 300km range?...

Crazy prices aside its a great place to spend some time isn't it!

Do you know if the banker ever sold his left hand drive '73 911 RS that was up for a mere $900k?
No idea about the RS, but it is a nice place to wander around - strangely calming too. The only thing that disappoints is that because of the silly asking prices, all those lovely cars spend too much time in the showroom rather than out on the road - and that E28 is a case in point. Must have been for sale in there for over a year.

Anyhow, enough nonsense. Whilst business hasn't exactly been booming, I've not been idle either, so I'm now thinking of some cheap n cheerful summer fun for carting the kids around...

Wheels are a bit small, but I find myself not put off by that or the green/beige colour combo.

Do it. Rescue it from being dumped on 18 inch chromies and being driven by a P plater.

Pre LCI update model, so its got the crappy CCC nav system that i have now, as well as the twin turbo engine. The later LCI update which was around 2009 has the CIC nav system which has the hard drive in it for storing music and 3d maps. the engine reverted to a twin scroll single turbo and is reportedly more reliable. the mirrors are also larger which is a good thing as the original E9x are tiny. Diferent Bonnet, grill and bumper. Other than LED running lights angle eyes, LED tail lights, LED indicators and some extra chrome on the cup holders i don't think much else changed. I have seen the LCI model with the DSG box, same as the M3 in a coupe but haven't seen this box in the wagon frown

Regarding the green convertible, that is fab. ive got the same color interior in the wagon and have just given it a leather care treatment today. if the previous owners have have been using some leather balm on it regularly then it should be easy to keep looking good. mine scrubbed up just fine today. went over it with some auto glym leather shampoo and a leather brush, damp cloth to rinse it clean and then the balm. All shiny and like new again.
so much nicer than black. i dont think i could do black again after having cream. a lot nicer and brighter place to be.

Happy to be part of the rescue - just need to find the time to even go and look at it!

In the meantime, have also found this - not sure I can do the colour, though have in the past - was only 26 then...

Just spent a week in the US.

Saw loads of Camaros and Mustangs, and a few Corvettes. If all these cars come to Aus I'll not really miss the local Holden/Ford motors at all.

Even saw a new Chev SS out there and a '04 Pontiac GTO. They took me by surprise.

It must be very frustrating in places with no auctions you don't get a price guide

In 3 weeks time I hope so.

Have the deposit, mortgage sorted but depends on what it sells for - the bank said we could borrow 1.1mill but stuff that for a laugh. Looking at max 620k but prefer to spend less. Means we don't have to eat pot noodles for the next 20 years.

Have the prices of nearby properties as a good guide, plus pulling in a favour from a valuer mate.

It's a really nice neighborhood. Great village shops 200m away, only 5minutes drive to the beach. 10 minutes to the centre of Newcastle. Heaps of room for 2 home offices. Ticks all the boxes. Plus a Parkrun just up the street.

Oh, to go back 20 years and buy a dilapidated asbestos shack on that road! There are still a few left along there that must be worth a fortune.

New Hilux out now. Upped specs over the old one. Shame they didn't do anything to the 4.0 V6 option (same engine as before). Needs a blower as standard in my opinion.
