Last night I was comparing Toyota Kluger and Mazda CX-9 thinking "Hmmm they're quite nice"
http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Toyota-K...
Vs.
http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Mazda-CX...
Kluger Grande of approximate 2012 vintage is currently ahead of the CX-9. Mainly because I currently have a Mazda 6 and have had a few electrical gremlins. Having said that a comparable spec and age CX-9 is $5-$7k cheaper.
The other less sensible choice would be this
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Jeep-Gr...
But they're not nearly as big at the other two so I'd gain little in terms of "child accessory storage"

Speaking of SUV's I've got a 2011 Nissan Murano - only cost $24k and full of kit. Goes ok as well.
Was quite surprised to open the boot mat up and see a Bose sub in the middle of the spare wheel hub!

Nice!I've only got the ST model(series 3) but it's got a bit of kit on it and the sound systems very good.
For the money 2nd hand not sure much else comes close tbh.

Well on chatting with a fellow PH'er last night, I was looking at :-
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Ferrari...
and then
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Ferrari...
Why is it that 348/355/360s are all about the same price?
But then I saw this :-
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Dodge-V...
I know it's rubbish, and I know the inside is cheap materials, but 8.0 V10 .. hmm ..
The road trip from QLD to WA would be fun (and expensive on fuel).
I think they're all awesome ideas and think the sharing thing is a great idea http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Ferrari...

Unfortunately not in the marketing for anything for a long while... Just window shopping..
That 360 sure must handle well...
Aren't 355 prices far above 360 / 348?
Yep, and climbing fast. 6 months ago they were approx 360 level but now a good 20% higher. That 360 sure must handle well...

Shame, beautiful machines.

In 3 weeks time I hope so. It must be very frustrating in places with no auctions you don't get a price guide
Have the deposit, mortgage sorted but depends on what it sells for - the bank said we could borrow 1.1mill but stuff that for a laugh. Looking at max 620k but prefer to spend less. Means we don't have to eat pot noodles for the next 20 years.
Have the prices of nearby properties as a good guide, plus pulling in a favour from a valuer mate.
It's a really nice neighborhood. Great village shops 200m away, only 5minutes drive to the beach. 10 minutes to the centre of Newcastle. Heaps of room for 2 home offices. Ticks all the boxes. Plus a Parkrun just up the street.

Car shopping time.
25-40k budget.
1) BMW 6 series. Either 645 or 650. Around 04-06
2) Audi A5 manual, 2010ish
3) BMW 335i, manual, 2007ish
4) BMW 328i, auto, first of the F30 series so 2012
5) 2012 VW Sirocco R.
6) 2014ish Alfa Giuletta QV manual
My driving is mainly long distance now. Once a week freeway for an hour each way, and then drive in the country on weekends or for work, plus a weekly shopping trip.
Not the Alfa - love them but it's a $20k car with a nice engine and set up.25-40k budget.

The 6 would be lovely and wafty.
Have to go with the 335 myself but apparently the 328 can be tuned to 290 relatively easy.

It's not clear to me if you're saying you're considering one of your old neighbour's old Porsches or a Cayman?
Either It's not clear to me if you're saying you're considering one of your old neighbour's old Porsches or a Cayman?
Heart would prefer a 'classic', but brain knows the performance hikes of a 'modern' are huge.
I recon a classic 911 is about the same size as a Cayman too.
I think I'm a year or two away from it though. Have to see how the finances go.
A well sorted Porsche (911 in my experience) is a thing of loveliness.
Question is which one? Also be careful to avoid the chocolate engine generation!

No idea what the price should be, but that seems cheap. But then so to the Gransports. Why are Mazzers so much cheaper than similar cars?
I left 20 minutes later vowing not to get a Grabsport
Bankruptcy potential withy things like $15k actuators going, potential breakages and as expected the running costs.
Actual services not too bad but but the ad hoc costs and a clutch every 20-25k kms at $5-7500 scared me.

I popped in to Tutti Motors at Wangaratta (Italian exotic service specialists) to have a serious chat about what to prep for and expect to pay on a Gransport.
Good to know .. I'll cross them off my list.Shame, as the ingredients look right.
Ferrari V8, 400hp, paddles, 4(ish) seats, Italian design.
Just had to replace all the suspension on the GTS, so I'll be enjoying that for a while first I think.
I think if you averaged $5k a year you'd be right with an every 3yr $10k bill.
Ohh nasty on the GTS - how much?
I just got a friendly $2k bill on the 5 series and trying to work out what I can ignore

Was getting a klunk from the suspension. So took it to an independent, 2 new shocks, droplinks, and a load of bushes needed.I just got a friendly $2k bill on the 5 series and trying to work out what I can ignore
The bushes, droplinks etc were about $500.
The suspension is about $1500 a shock.
I got some low mileage second hand off gumtree instead.
Apparently the Ferrari 599 Fiorano has the same shocks, but they are $16,000.
But it's been a ballache with Holden getting wrong parts (two left hand sides for example) and certain parts being a 'only got stock over east' thing.
Just what i needed when I'm off to Europe next month.
What's the issues with the zim zimmer?
It needs:
- New PCV and pipes (crankshaft ventilation unit) - $750
- Radiator top hose - $300 and the Water Pump will need reviewing too.
- 4 x tyres $1000
- news disks before long
If everything was done that's $3k on a $7k car... Hmm.
A New Car is getting tempting. Current dreaming is a Lexus RC350 or at a stretch an M2. Well see at the end of this year.

Lovely. Would be a tough call for me personally between an RS and this. Is that the colour you've chosen? Surprised by the huge wait list though....The RS is really nice but manual only and I really need/want an Auto. The dealer said they wouldn't get them in before 2018.
Yeah chose black on black. Like silver and blue but ultimately was Black was the nice safe option.
Apparently it's getting longer list wise...

Silver and grey are my fave colours, but never saw either in person! Just reading the Pony sales are/were outselling the Falcon. Amazing.
Good choices. The Silver ones in photos look great - the dealership guy was saying it looked a bit flat in real life though. Keen to see one myself. The Grey is lovely agreed.
Can't work out if that's because the Mustang is so popular or the Falcon so bad
I'm unsure where the market will be in a year or so with the Mustang but have this sense that it will be Monaro-esq in its glacial depreciation.
As the sales guy said, new XR6's have gone $40k and turn up a year later for $20k drive away at John Hughes but couldn't imagine a 1yr old 5.0 Mustang being worth less than perhaps $50k at least for a few years yet.
